Dr. Nizar Hussein Saleh - Assistant Secretary-General at the National Center
for Youth Studies
|
The National Center for Youth Studies was assigned to evaluate Wathek’s program for life and success skills and which is part of the King Abdullah project of general educational development, this program was implemented in 6 schools for girls and boys in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. When we were approached to monitor this program and assess it neutrally, we at the center worked on giving our assessment on the program in 12 weeks, the program took on more than one axis such as self confidence, communication skills. Leadership skills and pressure control skills, naturally the Center was neutral in its assessment. We provided a scientific team to follow the implementation of this program throughout the 12 weeks in 3 different Saudi regions, Riyadh, Jeddah and Damam. We provided an expert for each region to monitor the program. Initially we monitored the five elements and how well they were implemented before the program started. After 7 weeks we made a second measurement and recorded the findings and finally we made the third measurement after the 12 weeks period has passed. The results have indicated the steady growth of the five elements throughout the 12 weeks period which meant that there was a real need for this program to be implemented in yet more schools. We support such programs and we recommend them to be implemented throughout the Kingdom.
